ABOUT THE ARTIST

The Iriedrifter's music is an abstract piece of art.  Some of it is made in
dark rooms in the middle of the night with a moog, other tracks are made with a full band of brilliant, yet dysfunctional musicians.  The music is influenced by rock, progue, jam bands, reggae, ska and blues.  Inspired from the idols of the past, but never stolen.  Original, political, dreamy lyrics over electronic and organic sounds.

The Iriedrifter was born in the San Gabriel Valley in Los Angeles Ca.  He moved to oceanside, ca at the age of 10.  Here he attended college studying fine art, screenprinting, marketing, computer graphics, poetry, and film.  During this time he worked up to 3 jobs at a time trying to pay for school, one of which was at a nuclear power plant.  He then joined the Coast Guard sailing around
the pacific ocean for 4 years.  During this time he resided in Brookings Oregon,
a small coastal town on the California border.  Here he surfed every big swell and even had a front page newspaper headline "crazy man in the water".  When his duty was up he moved back to his hometown of Oceanside where he managed a reggae band from Ocean Beach.  He also helped put on festivals and promoting other local bands.  Around 2003 he moved to the island of Oahu where he helped musicians in the area by filming and editing live concerts.  After this he moved to the big island where he got more serious
and began filming bands such as Pato Banton, Groundation, Third World, Half Pint, Eek a Mouse, Ras Sparrow, Ooklah the Moc, and Natural Vibrations just to name a few.  After doing this for about 10 years he decided to stop helping everyone else and start making music for himself.  He was putting together bodyboarding videos of the real stars of Kona, the people surfing magic sands everyday,  Using the music he made the night before as the soundtrack.  Psychedelic swirly film with delirious sounds. Friends started sending
him music they had made and didn't have words for.  Then the Iriedrifter had to drift on.  He left Hawaii in 2015 and currently lives in Humboldt County, ca. where he is still writing songs constantly.  His band members are spread out between San Diego and Kona Hawaii, but they still get together from time to time.  He is an artist in every sense of the word from painting to poetry, writing, film, and sound.
